I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the
many people who supported me in the last campaign
-- the many volunteers who worked so hard on my behalf
as well as the people who turned out to vote for me. I will
do my best to represent ALL of the citizens of District 16A,
whether you voted for me or not. Together we can work
to make a better Minnesota for all.

Mille Lacs County Jobs Summit
on January 28th, 2010
As state legislators who represent Mille Lacs County, we recognize
there are no greater issues of importance to our communities than
jobs and our economy.
Our region of the state has been hit particularly hard by the national
recession, with unemployment still hovering over 11%. Concerns
aren’t just limited to unemployment. Many workers are seeing fewer
hours or reduced wages at the same time when their heating and
health care costs increase. The bottom line is too many families and
small businesses continue to see their budgets squeezed.
There are signs our national economy may be improving, but no
economic recovery will be real for our community until we get people
back to work. That is why we are holding a Mille Lacs County Jobs
Summit on Thursday January 28th at the Embers Banquet Hall in
Milaca from 9:00 am – 11:00 a.m.
The main goal of the Mille Lacs County Jobs Summit is to listen. A jobs panel including State Demographer Tom Gillaspy, representatives from the regional workforce development center, local small business owners, and the Milaca and Princeton Chamber of Commerce, will help us try to answer two questions:
1) What are the unique economic challenges facing Mille Lacs County?
2) What practical solutions will address those challenges in a meaningful way?
Most importantly, we want to hear from you. To some degree, we all come from different backgrounds and experiences, but we all share a vested interest in the health of our local economy. We encourage you to come share your unique perspective, ask questions, or just listen to others talk about ways we can grow jobs and strengthen our local economy.
We look forward a productive meeting that can help us put the right foot forward in 2010.
Sincerely,
Gail Kulick Jackson
State Representative,
Lisa Fobbe,
State Senator
